Aqua Vida

Sid's parents gave us a couple of cases of water that they were given after Hurricane Ike. Aqua Vida is it's name and being absolutely disgusting is it's game. I drink it when I'm totally desperate, like tonight when we ran out of Ozarka and have yet to replace the filter in our Brita pitcher.

Can you tell I was too lazy to grab my real camera?

Boo!

Sid thought he'd try out the Halloween mask a tad early this year. He bought it while in college and then he and Jesse drove around town sporting their masks....and it wasn't even close to Halloween (okay, I just realized that was a line from a Ghetto Boys rap). How those boys avoided jail time, I'll never know. In the years that followed, Sid and I have both had some hearty laughs at the other's expense while scaring one another with it. Just last weekend, Sid hollered at me from the shower to please grab him a towel. Oh, he got his towel. But first, I slammed the door, turned off the light and ripped open the shower curtain while wearing the mask....did I mention it glows in the dark?

Happy Halloween cards!

Uh huh, card pictures two days in a row. Why, you ask? Because except for cardmaking, lunch with Amanda tomorrow (where she will eat sushi for the first time - yah!) and lunch with Stacey on Friday, I have nothing even remotely exciting happening in my life. Well, Hobby Lobby had a 50% off sale on all scrapbooking supplies...that was PRETTTTYY, PRETTTTY (using Larry David voice) exciting.

I love Halloween and I made these cards for my neices & nephews - Ryan, Makenzie, Kathleen, Jack, Cole (adopted nephew) and Abbey (adopted neice). If you have a child who you feel deserved a Halloween card from me, I apologize. I ran out of Halloween stickers.

Me? Facebook? Sure, why not.

So I decided to become a Facebooker. I signed up ages ago, but never set up my account...until tonight! I figured it couldn't hurt to add one more addiction to the mix. Although, pretty much everyone on Facebook has a Myspace account....so why don't we all just pick one online community and throw out the rest? Whatever.

Haunted Happenings

We headed to Dr. Haunts Chamber of Fear tonight with Scott & Stacey. After going round and round about what we wanted to do for the night, we finally agreed to meet at Starbucks and then hit the haunted house. A good time was had by all!

If You Like My New Shoes and You Think They're Sexy...

...come on baby, let me know!

Someone met their 25 pound weight loss goal and bought new shoes tonight. Who, you ask?

Me!

My feet, in general, don't like Nikes much and I planned on buying a pair of Aasics that I'd already picked out. (yes, I know - Aasics? Really? But they were heavenly) I've tried on the fanciest Nikes I could find and the "Shox" and all that jazz but still...no spark. Tonight, however, I slipped a pair on my feet and it was love at first step. The Aasics cried a little when I put them back in their box, but the Nikes had just a teensy bit more love to give my feet. I've already tested them with a quick two mile walk tonight and I felt like a new woman with a bounce, literally, in my step. Amen!

And, if I'm allowed to say so, yah me for losing 25 pounds! I looked at myself in the mirror at the shoe store and as my eyes traveled from my feet to the rest of me, I was prepared to feel the usual "blah"but instead, I thought, "Hey, that girl looks pretty good!" Maybe in another month or two, that "pretty good" will become "plain ol' good" and then in another month or two, it will be "dang good."

New Books, New Books!

Mom loaned me "The Shack," Amanda loaned me "Finding the Gray in a World of Black & White" and I bought the 5th book of my Charlaine Harris series. Oh, what to read first?

Cold Front Day!

Our first significant cold front moved through this afternoon, temperatures dropping 20 degrees in 2 hours. I stopped by Starbucks for a latte to celebrate, and drove around the backroads near my neighborhood snapping photos.

Slide Slide Slippity Slide

Anyone remember the Reebok slide? My old Varsity tennis gals should! Basically you slip socks over your shoes and slide, left to right. It feels a lot like skiing or skating and it's a heck of a workout.

Anyway, I bought a slide on Ebay a while back and didn't realize there were various lengths you can get. Mine is HUGE and my short legs can barely make it to one side and then other. It needs to be at least a foot smaller, so I need to sell it and buy a new one.

To clarify for those who've never seen such a thing, here is what one looks like in action. You use the bumpers at each end to propel each slide movement. It's incredible exercise.

You Know I'm Home Alone When...

...I'm eating Lean Cuisines.

I must say, however, that I think I'm going to give this Lean Cuisine concept some more attention. Talk about portion and calorie control! I threw together a vinegrette, drizzled on a salad, and voila! A healthy, filling meal in minutes! I think I might try to eat them at lunch from now on.

Hot Air Balloon Ride, Anyone?

What a beautiful day for a hot air balloon ride! I snapped this flying near our house this morning.

What you DON'T want to see on your Sonic cup

Got all the way home before I saw this message on my cup:

Yes, it really does say, "Do not use." Drove back to Sonic, where the teenage girl giggled, "It's just the last cup! We're not supposed to use it!" Ha, ha, ha, sweetheart. Give me a new drink.

My Makenzie, the Artist

I had to snap a photo of the artwork Ken Ken made just for me. I told her on Monday that I HAD to take a quick nap (sleeping on the floor didn't do much for me). She promised to wake me up, but two hours later, I walked downstairs to find her sprawled out on the coach, sleeping like a log. When she woke up, she presented me with four drawings that she worked on while I was sleeping. My heart melted!

Who are YOU? Oh yeah, my Sister.

Did I really take this picture today? No. But it's my blog and I'll cheat if I want to.

I love Ryan's expression in this photo.

And the Award for Cutest Baby Goes To...

I have the sweetest, most precious nephew in the entire universe. Just ask Ken Ken. She'll tell you all about her baby brother. The two are absolutely adorable together. Ryan watches her every move, cooing and smiling, and Kenzie just can't get enough of him. He started crying today, and I made an "awwww" sound that apparently sounded like I was laughing. She turned to face me and with all seriousness said, "That's NOT funny, Leigh Leigh." Ryan is blessed to have a very protective older sister.

Make a Wish Ken Ken!

We arrived at Randy & Cindy's Sunday afternoon. Mom and Paul happened to be flying in from Miami, so Randy picked them up for the airport and we all met up for a delicious dinner at Guadalajara. Seriously. Our fajitas were delicious. Mmmmmm. Anywho, after dinner, Ken Ken wanted to thrown coins in the fountain and of course, she had to make a wish first.

Road Trip Preparations

Sid and I are heading to Houston tomorrow. He has to work from the Houston branch and I will tag along to see Randy, Cindy, Makenzie and Ryan. In preparation for the journey, I had a Napster night, downloading some new tunes for the road.

Beagle or Beast?

Our Dixie is...shall we say...a disgusting beast when she eats. Bear takes about ten minutes to eat a bowl of food. He nibbles and walks around, and nibbles some more. Dixie? She puts on quite a show. The moment the bowl hits the floor, she's on it like white on rice. She doesn't nibble. She doesn't chew. And she surely doesn't savor. She inhales, she drools, she grunts, and she finishes her bowl in under two minutes. Her next trick? Luring Bear away from HIS food so she can sneak in and gobble his too.

Kath & Kim

So, did you watch Kath & Kim tonight on NBC? If so , what did you think. I loved it! It's original, fresh and funny and I love all of the actors on the show.

Sorry for the blurry pic!

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

Warning: I'm incapable of producing photographs that aren't dorky and lame.

This is me with new hair. Short hair. Hair that was supposed to be three inches longer.

Halloween Hotdog

This is Dixie's Halloween costume we bought her a few days ago. She is already plotting her revenge. When we close our bedroom door at night, she stays up for hours - making lists, ordering supplies, calling up her old associations who owe her favors. "You'll never believe it," she says to her pals. "I'm the toughest Beagle on the block, and they disrespect me with a hotdog costume. Time to go to the mattresses, Godfather style."

It's Mii!

I totally forgot I had this picture when I posted my Saturday image of the day. I don't know how it could've slipped my mind, considering I nearly peed my pants when it was taken.

We spent Saturday night at Amanda and Colin's for some relaxing, munching on delicious treats (Amanda & Colin are both very healthy anyway, but I still feel special when she makes nutritious snacks, like maybe she did it just for me and my diet), and the grand finale - they introduced us to their close friend, Wii. We had a ball and even got to design our own "Mii." I don't know why mine cracked me up so much, but everytime she appeared on the screen, I giggled uncontrollably. I think maybe it's because she looks a little like me...that and the fact that her obnoxiously enormous smile made her look like a cheerleader on crack.

Oh, and it didn't hurt the laugh factor that her name is Leugh, which we pronounced "Lug" (I couldn't quite steady my hands enough when I was entering my name).

Very, very interesting....

Dirty Sexy Money

Dirty Sexy Money premiered last night. We starting watching it last season, but for some reason, it got booted from our TV watch list.

I forgot how good the show is! Guess I'll have to Netflix Season 1.
